We are deeply sensitive to one another’s presence – Bonnie Badenoch
In our session today we spoke about how distraction can disrupt connection between parent and child. Through a very simple exercise of putting on a jacket mothers could experience the importance of meaningful interaction, crucial for the emotional wellbeing of their baby. First we explored what it felt like to put a jacket on when being distracted (watching TV or being or talking on the phone) and then comparing the difference in feeling when jacket is put on with full attention (Talking to the child and engaging with eye contact and a smile) to the child. In Other words, being present in the moment.
